5 Conclusions and future work

We have achieved the goal set out in our earlier paper [17]. This was to develop a deformable surface with arbitrary topology. We have developed a scheme for rapid computation. The tex2html_wrap_inline1655 matrices and software implementing the calculation of the tex2html_wrap_inline1573 vectors will be made publically available [16].

Considerable work remains. Slime can be applied in many application domains. More importantly it opens up a variety of questions relating to the extraction and manipulation of mesh topology.
